Don’t study hard. Study smart.
January and exams. Two words that are linked to each other. A combination that leaves every student with a slight feeling of panic. I can relate for sure but I’ve come up with some study hacks that’ll make it just a little bit easier.
I’s all about your planning
A good planning avoids a lot of stress and stress is the last thing you can use during these days. So plan ahead, this way you can see how much time you have to study for each exam. While making this planning, try to keep it realistic. Keep in mind that have to actually do all that stuff in one day. So don’t try to overachieve. It’ll only discourage you when you don’t get to your goal. It won’t do you any good, stress is really unhealthy for you and try to avoid this as much as possible.
Try to remember to schedule some fun things to. This way you don’t have to feel guilty when going on a coffee date with your friends. Just think it through, be smart and enjoy that well deserved break!
Clear your head
Being inside all the time isn’t really healthy. So try to take an ‘outside break’ at least once a day. Some people go for a run during this break but you don’t have to do that at all. You can go for a short walk, go to the store or something or even go to the terras for a few minutes. Being outside, in the fresh air, helps to clear your head. Something you can definitely use after spending so many hours sitting behind your desk. It’ll boost your concentration.
I already said this in a previous blogpost but I can’t tell you enough! Take a break from time to time. No one can study non stop, unless you are some kind of freak?. No we are all humans after all and we need a well deserved break sometimes. My favorite kind of break? A five-minute-dance-break with my roommates here in Ghent! Dancing a little with the music loud really helps to lose some of that tension.
Try to get some sleep
Sleep isn’t overrated. It is proven that if you don’t sleep enough, you won’t be able to remember as well as when you are well rested. So studying every night until 3 am in the morning? Not a good idea!
Instead keep a steady sleeping routine. Try to go to bed at the same time every night. For example go to bed around 11 PM and get up the following morning around 8AM. This way you get enough sleep and your body knows what to expect. If you don’t have any routine in this, your body will get confused and you won’t get a good nights rest.
So these are a few tips for the exams. A bit late, since I have exams too, but I still wanted to share them with you guys.
